Instruments of Empire

Very Excited to see this show tomorrow night at Caption Gallery. Two amazing photographers whose work will create an interesting dialogue on our culture and society. Also they have each created some new work for this show that is inspired by the other's work, ideas and style. This is going to be good! See you at the opening!

Individual Artist Initiative Deadline Approaching!

I was an Individual Artist Initiative recipient last year and would reccommend all artists living or working in Queens to apply. This program provides valuable one on one meetings with a career development specialist. This program helped me focus my goals, get organized and create effective business strategies.

"The Individual Artist Initiative (IAI) facilitates goal setting and career planning for artists. Awarded annually to emerging Queens artists in any discipline (performing arts, media arts, literary arts or visual arts), IAI pairs artists with established professional development specialists who act as consultants and guides for recipients in their work toward a specific project goal, career goal or strategic plan."

Deadline: January 21, 2010, 12 noon - APPLY NOW

Text for a Cause: Disaster Relief

Anyone that knows me knows, I hate texting but in this case I'm making an exception. Wyclef Jean has used Twitter to rally web users to contribute to his Yele Haiti earthquake fund. Text “Yele” to the number 501501. If you send the text, the organization will receive $5. The amount will be added to your next cell phone bill. Another texting option is text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 via the Red Cross. I'm making a donation to both. Even in tough times we can all do something to help. I'm praying that the families of my close friends are all safe and my thoughts and prayers are with everyone there.

Vanitas Exhibition at the Center for Photography at Woodstock

So excited to be exhibiting Vanitas for the first time at Center for Photography at Woodstock! I began this body of work last year while I was an Artist in Residence at CPW. I owe all of the staff at CPW for the time, support and inspiring environment their A.I.R program provides. Looking forward to seeing everyone again at the opening!
